Planting by the Farmers Almanac?

Do you use any of the many almanacs to garden?

I was curious, have heard about them all my life, even read a page or two but never used them for gardening.

I signed up for one: THE OLD FARMERS ALMANAC

and got these free downloads:
The Collection: Charts and Guides (PDF)
100 Unexpected Uses for Everyday Household Items (PDF)
Guide to Spices and Herbs in the Kitchen (PDF)
Rose Gardening Guide (PDF)
The Old Farmer's Almanac All-Seasons Garden Guide (PDF)
Almanac Guide to Bulbs (PDF)
2012 Moon's Sign Calendar (PDF)

It was free to register and I just may use it this year. I have made a chart of planting dates for my town (yes it went to my small town!) and since I will be starting five (hopefully six) new garden beds this spring, I think it will help me keep track of when the best time to plant is.

We shall see....after all, my garden could NOT do any worse than it did last year!!

Progess: slowly but surely

I'm hoping to eventually replace the plastic with more fiberglass siding.... as I get the money.

but the greenhouse and fence AND raised beds (will be putting in five of them) should be done this year...after all, I've got 11 and 1/2 months to finish! LOL!

Here is the green house:

and here is the finished side of the fence and the working side:
